I’m looking to buy a couple of budget-friendly laptops for my little sisters, who are 6 years old. I’m hoping to steer them away from YouTube Shorts and multiplayer games with little to no supervision. I want to set them up with Minecraft and some kid-friendly games like Slime Rancher and The Sims. Since my budget is tight, I would love to know how low I can go on price while still having a decent gaming experience. For those of you who have low-end laptops, what are your specs and how well do the games run? Any additional suggestions for good child-friendly games would also be appreciated!

For laptop specs, I think anything with at least an i3 4th gen and 8GB of RAM could work for Minecraft, costing around $200. Just keep in mind it might not run super smoothly if the graphics aren’t decent. But you can definitely find something in that range if you’re looking hard enough.
If you’re really trying to save money, consider picking up two used Xbox Ones for around $100 each. They also work great for kid-friendly games like Viva Piñata. You’ll be looking at a total of about $300-$350, which might be a better investment than laptops. Plus, consoles have better parental controls, making them easier to manage.
Totally agree! Parents can usually find a balance with console gaming without worrying about the kids wandering off to inappropriate content.
