I’ve been keeping an eye on ZeniMax Online Studios for nearly a decade, and there seems to be a big secret about what they’re working on. Given that high-profile studios typically open up more as development progresses, I’m wondering if their silence is a red flag. What do you all think? Is this a sign that the game is stuck in development issues, or is everything still moving smoothly?

I’m just trying to keep track of what ZeniMax is doing now. They might just be focused on ESO updates and expansions for the moment, especially post-acquisition by Microsoft.
Yeah, the updates for ESO and Fallout 76 seem to take priority at the moment.
I don’t think we need to worry about development hell just yet. ZeniMax is consistently dropping high-quality expansions for The Elder Scrolls Online and expanding their team. Sure, it takes time to create a new MMO, especially with everything from the pandemic to acquisition challenges, but that’s the nature of the beast. It’s common for major projects to take 5+ years, and they seem to be on track. We only know that the new game will be a new IP, multiplayer, and using a new engine, so there’s that!
Exactly, many MMOs get rushed and often launch with tons of issues. If ZOS is taking their time, it’s probably for the best! They want to ensure they’ve got enough endgame content to keep players engaged.
True, we could look at something like Riot’s MMO, which ended up in development hell. Thankfully, ZOS is still active with ESO.
Honestly, I’m just hoping for an awesome online Star Wars MMO with killer graphics to finally replace SWTOR. But from what I can tell, that doesn’t seem likely to happen any time soon.
Totally! They are definitely busy with their existing titles for now.
