Hey folks, I noticed something odd about the new mystery box that just dropped in Path of Exile 2. I thought all microtransactions (MTX) would be usable in POE2, except for those tied to items exclusive to POE1. So, logically, I’d expect the opposite to hold true too—meaning MTX for POE2 would be available in POE1. However, the mystery box page doesn’t mention anything about these items being usable in POE1 later on. For instance, I believe MTXs like pets, portals, and effects should definitely work in POE1. Yet, the current listing doesn’t clarify this at all. And I saw that the drops from a recent livestream would be available in POE1 down the line. So why isn’t there a note about the mystery boxes being usable in POE1? Are they exclusively for POE2 only? Just seems like a missed opportunity not to mention it!

I’m really baffled too! Like you, I want to grab those MTX, but buying a mystery box without confirmation feels too risky. I asked on the mystery box thread in the POE2 subreddit, but of course, the thread got downvoted into oblivion. It’s so annoying that it’s so tough to get a clear answer!
It seems like a big oversight on their part, especially since those MTX are pretty cool and I’d love to get them for POE1 too. With nothing mentioned on the POE1 shop or site, I’d guess they just aren’t bringing them over, which totally sucks! I was planning to grab some but I won’t spend a dime on POE2 if I can’t use them in POE1.
Exactly! Feels like they’re trying to get more cash without considering their longtime players. I’m not interested in shelling out for something that might not be available in the game I play the most.
It really feels like they’re trying to squeeze money from players before the game’s even out. I just want some reassurance that what I’m buying isn’t strictly limited to POE2; otherwise, it feels like a rip-off.
Yeah, Reddit can be super harsh. It’s frustrating to see people downvote genuine inquiries just because they expect things to be perfect with the game. We just want clarity on what we’re spending money on!
