I’m planning a trip to Warhammer World in May 2025 and I’m curious about their stance on using proxies in casual games. Specifically, I’m thinking about using only GW plastic models, like calling my chaos Havocs chosen or my Scarab Occult Terminators as regular CSM. Is it cool to say my Horus Heresy sculpt legionaries are standard CSM ones?

When it comes to proxies, base size and wargear are super important. Generally, your proxy should be on the correct base, have similar wargear, and maintain a similar silhouette. So, for example, Havocs are on 40mm bases and don’t quite fit for chosen, though I’ve seen people adapt them for kitbashing. On the bright side, using Scarab Occult as regular Terminators works better since they share the same base size! You can even pass off those khopeshes as accursed weapons without much hassle.
That makes sense! What if I say my Chaos Sorcerer is in Terminator armor or my Poxwalkers are just part of a Chaos mob?
