Hey everyone! So, I’m completely new to the Zelda series and I just started playing The Wind Waker. I’ve heard a lot about these games in different gaming communities, so I wanted to get your thoughts. Is Wind Waker a good starting point, or should I play something else first? What do you recommend? Thanks!

Most Zelda games can be played without needing to know the previous ones, but if you’re looking for a solid starting point, I’d recommend Ocarina of Time, Link to the Past, or Breath of the Wild. That said, starting with Wind Waker is perfectly fine too—it’s an amazing game! If you like, you could follow it up with Spirit Tracks or try Ocarina of Time next since Wind Waker is somewhat of a sequel.
Just a quick note: Wind Waker’s direct sequel is actually Phantom Hourglass, while Spirit Tracks comes a bit later.
It really depends on your playstyle! Almost any Zelda game can work as a first. If you’re into top-down gameplay, A Link to the Past is fantastic. If you prefer a classic 3D journey, go for Ocarina of Time. And if you want something open-ended, Breath of the Wild is incredible too. But don’t worry—Wind Waker is a great gateway game into the franchise!
You’ve picked a really iconic title to start with! There aren’t many direct sequels in the series, but if you want to explore more, consider playing Ocarina of Time next. That’s my personal favorite, and it connects with some Wind Waker story elements.
Thank you!
Wind Waker is a good choice, but if you want a more classic Zelda experience, Ocarina of Time is the way to go. You can find it on the 3DS, N64, or Nintendo Switch Online, so there are plenty of options!
Thanks mate!
Thanks for the tip!
