Hey everyone! I’m looking for the most effective method to sync my emulator save files with my PC. I’ve tried Syncthing but struggled to get it working on my Steam Deck. Is Syncthing still the best option, or are there newer methods or tutorials available? Ideally, I’d love to have my saves synced automatically when I turn on the Steam Deck, especially while in Game Mode. I’ve checked out some other threads, but I haven’t found a solution yet.

Syncthing is definitely a solid choice for keeping your saves updated! There are a ton of video tutorials out there on YouTube, so if one doesn’t work, just try another. It might take a little experimenting, but it’s usually worth it!
Have you looked into the Cloud Saves decky plugin? I’m not sure if it works with emulators, but it might be worth checking out since it’s specifically designed for the Steam Deck.
I actually have a makeshift solution that I’ve used for syncing with non-Steam titles:
1. Get the decky-cloud-save plugin and link it to OneDrive (you can use a throwaway Outlook account).
2. Set the path for your save files in the plugin.
3. Make sure OneDrive is installed on your Windows PC (it usually is by default) and log in with your burner account.
4. Download FreeFileSync. It’s an open-source tool that syncs files on the same PC.
5. Create a job in FreeFileSync to sync your OneDrive saves folder with the local folder where your save files are stored.
6. You can even set it to run at startup on Windows, so it updates your saves automatically, without needing to click any icons! It usually syncs within a couple of minutes.
