Hey everyone! I’m new to the Final Fantasy franchise and want to dive in without getting any spoilers. I’ve heard great things about the story and know there’s a turn-based mechanic involved, but I’m not sure how deep it goes. I’m planning to play on my PS5 and was considering getting FF7 Remake Intergrade, but I’ve come across so many titles that it’s confusing. I’ve noticed there are different universes in the series too, and I’m curious how to tell which games are connected. Is FF7 Remake Intergrade a good starting point for a newcomer, or should I begin with another title that’s available on PS5? Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you’re into classic JRPGs, I’d suggest trying the Pixel Remasters of games 1-6. They’re straightforward but get more complex as you go. If you enjoy getting lost in a story, starting with something like FFIV or FFVI might really hook you! But just a heads up, each numbered title is its own universe, so you can jump in wherever. FF7 Remake and FF16 are great modern choices too!
You’ve got a lot of choices! I’d recommend picking a theme that catches your interest. For example, if you love steampunk, go with FFVII. If romance is your thing, FFVIII or X are solid picks. The remakes of FFVII could be a tricky place to start unless you’ve played the original. The twists might not hit as hard for first-timers, but it could work for you if you really want to dive in without going back to the classics!
That makes sense! I was leaning toward the FF7 Remake since it really seems to have modern graphics and gameplay. Could you explain what you mean by ‘twists’? Do they change the story at all from the original?
That’s really helpful! I’ve never played anything quite like this. I’m looking for a game with a rich narrative that dives deep. I guess I want to explore that deeper, more intricate storytelling!
