I’m trying to finish my final campaign task in World of Warships, which involves getting 10 citadel hits in a single match using a Tier IX, X, or super cruiser. I’m mostly using the Petropavlovsk, but after 120 games, I’ve still not achieved it. I occasionally hit eight or nine citadels but can barely get beyond that. I’ve tried the Novosibirsk, but its servicing costs drained my funds too quickly. The difficulty lies in getting enemy cruisers to expose their broadside at medium to close range, and I often find that I’m held back by destroyers or submarines. The accuracy of my Petro drops significantly at range, and most battleships can only be citadel’d occasionally. I’ve heard others claim to score over 20 citadels in their first game with the Petro, which seems impossible to me. Is it really that tough to complete this one-star campaign, or am I missing something?

You could try focusing on just completing the campaign without needing to do it perfectly. If it’s about that final completion, maybe switch to Minotaur for its faster fire rate. You won’t over-pen light cruisers, and you can rack up those citadels that way! Alternatively, give Nevsky a go; it’s capable against sturdier targets.
If you’ve got Minotaur, give it a shot! It’s got a fast enough reload to rack up more than 10 citadels, and while you might not be dishing out big damage, you’ll be landing hits quite often before you get taken out. Even if survival isn’t crucial, it’s a solid choice!
Hindenburg can actually get reliable citadels at mid-range against cruisers and even battleships if you’re close enough. Other solid options are Moskva, Yoshino, or Azuma, but they have longer reloads just like Alaska. If you can close in, Napoli is a great contender too!
I actually had a lucky game with Hindenburg where I caught an Azuma broadside, and after two salvos, I hit my citadels. But yeah, it’s all about catching them at the right moment!
