I’m looking to dive into Final Fantasy IV for the first time and would love some advice on the best way to experience it. I’m leaning towards the PSP version because it includes The Interlude and The After Years, but I’m open to other versions as well. Are there any mods for different versions that enhance the gameplay? I’m just trying to find the most complete and enjoyable way to play FFIV, no matter the console or version. Thanks!

Both the PSP version and the Pixel Remaster versions have their strengths. Personally, I think the PSP version edges out the Pixel Remaster, mainly because it has more content like The After Years. Just a heads up, if you’re not a huge fan of FFIV, you might not enjoy The After Years as much. You can’t go wrong with either choice, but my vote is definitely for the PSP version.
I’m all in for the PSP version! It’s visually stunning, and the additional content makes it worthwhile, especially if you enjoy The After Years.
If you’re a purist like me, you might want to consider playing the original SNES version with the “Namingway Edition” romhack. It restores everything that was cut from the NA version, including spells, abilities, and it even improves the translation. While it doesn’t add new content, I think it’s the most authentic experience you can get in English. If you’re interested in Interlude and The After Years, though, you’ll want to stick with the PSP version. Just a heads up, I’ve heard the Pixel Remaster is a bit on the easy side, which can take away from the classic charm.
