I’ve created a wizard character who has some pickpocketing skills along with +2 sleight of hand gloves. However, I’m struggling to successfully sneak around and steal without getting caught. I’ve tried casting invisibility, but someone always seems to spot me, and I keep failing my pickpocket rolls. Is this just how it is, or am I missing some crucial strategies? Any advice would be appreciated!

Honestly, wizards aren’t the best choice for pickpocketing. It’s usually better to go with a rogue, bard, or ranger since they have proficiency in sleight of hand. You can get “Gloves of Thievery” from Brem at the Zhent hideout after helping Zarys, and there’s a “Smuggler’s Ring” you can find that gives you an extra +2 to your rolls. The more boosts you have to sleight of hand, the better your chances!
A good tip is to use Greater Invisibility instead of just regular invisibility. Combining that with Gloves of Thievery and a high dexterity can really up your pickpocketing game. You can pull off some serious heists that way!
You might want to try using the skills of a rogue or bard who can gain sleight of hand expertise early on. Equip them with items like the Silver Pendant and use spells like Enhance Ability: Cat’s Grace to boost your rolls. Also, practice on easier targets like Aaron once the nearby Tieflings are distracted!
That’s true! Also, I’ve had success pickpocketing with Gale, a wizard, since I focused on his dexterity. With the right setup, you can still make it work, but generally, a rogue will have a much easier time.
