What’s the Best Way to Handle Megacities in the Game?

-

I just watched a video about how players are feeling disappointed that the Megacities and two new missions disappeared after the recent major event on Super Earth. I get the sentiment—it was a bummer after all our hard work against the Illuminate just to see them go away after only two weeks. But they’re not gone forever! They’ll probably return, but it got me thinking: how should they implement Megacities when they do come back? Would it make sense to have them on every planet, or should each sector have a dedicated planet with Megacities? What are your thoughts?

I believe every planet should feature a single Megacity. If you think about it, you could have 1 out of 3 operations on each difficulty linked to a Megacity, while the other two could focus on free-range missions or colony challenges. I also think the defense campaigns should have sleek, modern Megacities, while the liberation ones could show them overrun by enemy structures. This logic could apply to colony generation too: Illuminates might inhabit pristine urban maps, while Terminids and Automatons could dominate defense missions with wrecked colonies.

Honestly, I’m hoping we see Megacities across all factions! Just picture using that giant cannon to blast a bot ship or annihilate a huge bug nest—it would be epic! Maybe these Megacities could only spawn at higher difficulty levels, like 7-10, and players could choose if they wanted to drop into those chaotic environments.

You nailed it! I’m all for having Megacities across numerous planets, especially for missions like the Repeal invasion or taking down those Mega ships. While I’m not totally sold on having them on *every* planet, I think it would be awesome to have them available on each one. Just as long as players can see beforehand what missions suit their playing style best.

I agree! Lore-wise, it might indeed make more sense to have one Megacity per sector on dedicated planets, given their size. But if they roll out Megacities across all planets, that would be super cool too!

I really think we should have Megacities on many planets to boost mission variety and overall immersion. It just makes sense to include one or two big Megacities along with some smaller towns and scattered wilderness. This way, it feels more realistic and engaging for players with different gameplay styles.
