Hey everyone, I’m diving into the entire Resident Evil saga and have played from the beginning up to Resident Evil 4. I’ve heard some fans say that certain games are way better in VR and just don’t feel the same as traditional play—but I can’t remember which ones! Can anyone clarify which titles are must-plays in VR? Also, I’m curious if I can use any VR headset, or do I need something specific? I’m considering buying a used one to save some cash. Any tips or advice would also be appreciated. Thanks!

I recently played RE4 in VR on a Quest 2, and it was insane! They added Mercenaries mode to it, but keep in mind it’s missing some extra campaigns like Assignment Ada. Definitely worth it!
I just had to jump in here to say that motion controls are a huge part of the VR experience! Playing OG RE4 in VR on Meta Quest 2 was a dream come true for me. I can’t wait to try RE4R, which seems to improve on it—minus some things like Separate Ways and Mercenaries. Just a heads up, other VR Resident Evil games are primarily modded on PC, especially 2, 3, 7, and 8. TL;DR: If you have a Quest 2, definitely try the original RE4, and if you’ve got a PSVR2, don’t miss out on RE4 and Village in VR!
For me, RE7 is the standout title that’s best experienced in VR. I know some folks enjoy RE4R and Village, but I found their heavy reliance on motion controls a bit annoying—standard gameplay feels better for those. If you’re going for official VR support, you’ll need a PSVR1 for RE7 and PSVR2 for RE4R and Village. A Meta Quest works for RE4. If you’re modding on PC, almost any decent VR headset should be fine!
I really can’t agree with RE7 being great in VR because the forehead aiming ruins it for me. If they’d let you control the aiming with the controller, it would’ve been so much better!
