dodging attacks can be tricky due to the fixed camera angles. Try using the quick turn to get out of tight spots quickly. If you just hold the run button and tap back on the d-pad, your character does a quick turnaround, which can be useful for escaping or repositioning during encounters.

When dodging enemy attacks in Resident Evil 1, you’ve got a few key strategies to consider:

  1. Camera Angles Understanding: The fixed camera angles can be tricky, but they can also be used to your advantage. Memorize the different angles in each room to know where enemies might lurk and where you’ll have some wiggle room. The angles might surprise you sometimes, but if you know where enemies typically appear, you can better prepare for them.

  2. Enemy Patterns: Pay close attention to enemy movement patterns. This game is old-school, so enemies have predictable behaviors. Zombies usually move in straight lines and are pretty slow, so you can often sidestep past them once you’re familiar with their approach. Dogs and hunters are trickier with their lunges; timing your dodges is crucial with them.

  3. Positioning and Timing: Always be mindful of your positioning, especially in tight spaces. You can often sidestep an enemy right before they attack if you time it well. Timing is everything—the key is to move just as they start their attack animation.

  4. Manual Dodging: Unlike later games in the series, Resident Evil 1 doesn’t have a designated dodge button. It’s all manual dodging through movement, so practice moving and turning quickly. You can make sharp turns and quick backpedals to avoid attacks.

  5. Knife Usage: Using the knife is mostly a last resort because of its limited range and power. But if you’re using it, corner zombies so that they can’t bypass you easily, and use quick slashes. It’s a good way to conserve ammo, especially if you’re short on bullets.

  6. Lure and Bait Tactic: Sometimes you can exploit enemy AI by luring them to one side, then quickly moving to the other side when they get close. This can create a path to escape or get a better position to attack.

Remember, the key to Resident Evil 1 is patience and practice. Once you get the hang of the movement and enemy AI, dodging attacks becomes much easier.

In RE1 due to tank controls and camera angles its mostly about keeping your distance n waiting for the right moment to move. Keep calm and practice the quick turn for escaping when things get intense.

move diagonally, enemies move in straight lines so u dodge them. also sneak past when their backs turned since enemies have limited field of view sometimes
