Hey everyone! I’m curious about the multiple timelines in the Legend of Zelda series, especially since they can get pretty complicated post-Breath of the Wild. We know there are at least three, maybe even four distinct timelines branching from Ocarina of Time. If you were to merge them into a single timeline, how would you arrange the games? I have a starting point: Skyward Sword, Minish Cap, Four Swords, Ocarina of Time, and Majora’s Mask. But I’d love to hear your thoughts on where titles like A Link to the Past and The Wind Waker fit into that picture!

I think Nintendo keeps it ambiguous on purpose! If you check their official site, they show that they’ve embraced the idea of multiple timelines. It keeps the lore interesting and opens up so many possibilities for fan theories.
Honestly, creating a single timeline is super tough. The games have some contradictions that make it hard to merge them seamlessly. But it’s a fun challenge! Some fans suggest looking at it through the lens of legends fading into myth, which could allow for some creative interpretations.
You really can’t blend them into one narrative without losing distinct stories! Since 2002, the timeline has diverged intentionally. Just look at Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, which explicitly show different outcomes based on Link’s actions in Ocarina of Time. Those two games depict different fates based on the timeline you consider, so it’s more of a choose-your-own-adventure situation!
Totally! I’ve seen a mix of timelines on discussion boards that incorporate some unique theories, like how certain games might just be myths or legends told over the ages. It adds a whole new layer to the timeline debate!
