I’m looking for ways to access my Steam Deck’s SD card easily while using my Linux PC. I’ve read a bit about tweaking the BIOS to mount it as a drive, but I’m hoping for a simpler method. Ideally, I want an approach that allows me to install mods on games without too much hassle.

One more option: you can share folders using Samba. Just right-click on a folder in desktop mode, go to Properties, choose ‘Share’, and enable sharing with your local network. It’s pretty easy and doesn’t require any extra tools. Just access it from your file browser on your other PC!
Check out KDE Connect! It’s preinstalled on the Steam Deck, and once you’re in desktop mode, you can pair it with your PC or phone. It’s super smooth for transferring files, syncing notifications, and even remote control. It’s a really powerful option!
Totally agree with using SSH or other Linux networking tools. Just steer clear of USB connections. Methods like sftp or sshfs are all solid options for file transfers!
You could also use Anydesk from the Discover app. It lets you remotely access and transfer files between your Steam Deck and PC really easily. Plus, it’s great for sharing with friends who have Steam Decks too!
If you want to access your Steam Deck files wirelessly, I’d recommend using SSH. For Linux, you can use tools like FileZilla or even native methods. On Windows, I use WinSCP; it’s super easy for dragging and dropping files. It’s the simplest way without messing around with USB connections!
Gotcha! That’s helpful info. My Steam Deck arrives tomorrow; hopefully, it has a pre-configured root password!

Awesome, thanks for this tip! I’ll definitely look into KDE Connect.
