Hey everyone! I just finished 100%ing Pokémon Blue on my 3DS Virtual Console and now I’m looking to do the same for Generation 2. I have Pokémon Crystal on the 3DS VC and also have a Game Boy Advance with a copy of Crystal. I know I’ll need to pick up some additional stuff to complete my Pokédex, but I’m not sure what.
I’ve heard I can only get Celebi through the Crystal VC. But can I trade Pokémon from the VC games to my physical copies? Any help or recommended routes to 100% Generation 2 would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, you can’t trade directly from Virtual Console to hard copy games since they’re not compatible. You can trade among VC versions or between certain newer games, but the older systems don’t connect for trades anymore. So yeah, keep that in mind!
To fully complete your Generation 2 Pokédex, you’ll need two 3DS systems with VC versions of both Gold and Silver. You can trade Pokémon from Generation 1 games to fill up your Gen 2 dex. Most of the Generation 1 Pokémon are obtainable without trading, but you’ll need the legendary birds, Mewtwo, fossil Pokémon, and starters through trade.
