What's the Best Starting Zone to Dive into Dwemer Lore?

If you’re really into Dwemer lore, I’d recommend starting with the Daggerfall Covenant in Stros M’kai. There’s a quest there that takes you right into a Dwemer ruin, and you’ll meet Neramo, who loves to brag about being the greatest Dwemer scholar! Plus, Vvardenfell and Western Skyrim have some fantastic Dwemer ruins to explore too, so try to hit those places later on.

A great resource is the UESP wiki. They have a comprehensive list of all Dwemer ruins across different zones. Just pick one, grab the relevant quests, and dive in! It’ll give you a solid grasp of the lore and history, plus you’ll find lots of cool notes and items inside the ruins.

Don’t forget that you can’t just pick a starting zone; your race decides that, which means you’ll need to choose your alliance wisely. Starting in the Covenant like Stros M’kai gives you a good mix of Dwemer lore, but you’ll eventually want to explore areas like Coldharbor and Vvardenfell too. Western Skyrim has some serious Dwemer presence with the Greymoor expansion, so keep that in mind if you extend your playtime!

You can actually experience Dwemer lore just about anywhere in Tamriel! Places like Stonefalls, Deshaan, and The Rift have Dwemer ruins scattered throughout. Although Stros M’kai is a solid choice since it’s an original starter zone with access to some early Dwemer-themed content, Western Skyrim and the Greymoor chapter have a lot of expansive ruins. Just don’t get stuck in the Dominion zones since they lack Dwemer lore!
