I’m looking to upgrade the storage on my PS5, specifically the disc version. I’m wondering which SSD card is the best option for this upgrade. Any recommendations or tips on what to look for?

I picked up a Fanxiang S770 4TB from eBay for around £178. It’s not quite as fast as the advertised speeds – it clocks in around 5800MB/s on the PS5, but that’s still above the 5500MB/s minimum recommended by Sony. For top-tier performance, though, Western Digital is unbeatable, but they can be pricey. Just weigh your options based on what you’re comfortable spending!
When you’re choosing an SSD for your PS5, make sure it’s compatible with the console’s NVMe slot, which is Gen4 and can handle speeds up to 8000MB/s. I suggest checking the official specs from Sony and then comparing prices within your budget. That way, you can find something that suits your needs without overspending.
I recently installed a Seagate FireCuda 530 with a heatsink, and it’s been a solid choice for my original PS5. There’s space for drives up to 8TB, but you don’t have to go that big if it’s outside your budget. If you’re looking for something more affordable, check out the Silicon Power options on Amazon; they’ve worked well for me.
