Hey everyone! I just upgraded to a Gigabyte RTX 5090 after dealing with too many issues on my previous 4090 STRIX, and I got a great trade-in value for it. I’m currently using a 2021 RM1000x power supply, and I’m worried it might bottleneck the 5090. Do you think I need to upgrade my PSU for this setup? Here’s my PCPartPicker list for context: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7vT7Bq

Looking at your parts list, Nvidia actually recommends a 1000W PSU when you’re using it with a 9950X AMD CPU. So, while your 1000W PSU might technically work, I’d still consider a slight upgrade just to be on the safe side, especially if you plan to push your system hard with gaming or heavy workloads.
Congrats on the new GPU! I’d recommend upgrading to at least a 1200W PSU. Not only does it provide extra power headroom, but newer PSUs also come with ATX 3.1 support. This means you’ll get the latest 12vhpwr connector design, which significantly reduces the risk of GPU-related issues. I personally like the NZXT C1200 for its reliability and performance, and it seems to not have issues with melting cables like some Corsair models have. Better safe than sorry!
