I’ve been using Bazzite for a couple of years with my 7800XT, and I’ve recently upgraded to a 9070XT. I know there’s some growing pains with many distros, so I’ve been using Windows 11 in a dual boot. However, I’m looking to switch back to Linux and would love to hear from anyone who has experience with the RX9000 series cards. Specifically, which distros are currently providing stable and reliable support for the 9070XT in terms of gaming performance? I’m not worried about FSR4 support yet since that’s still in the works with AMD, just anything that helps with general stability and reliability.

Debian 13 (trixie) with xanmod kernel also works fine for me. Some minimal glitches on the desktop (flickering lines) sometimes, but overall great performance. The displaydriver crashes rarely when used much.
Performance is exceptional (upgraded from 2080ti)
I think anything running the latest kernel and mesa-25 should handle the 9070XT fairly well, but full support might not come until kernel 6.15 is out. Just my guess though!
For the newest hardware, rolling release distros are usually the way to go. I’d recommend trying out OpenSUSE Tumbleweed or Arch Linux. They tend to integrate the latest drivers and kernel updates faster than others, which can be beneficial for the 9070XT.
Do you know if there are specific features or fixes that won’t be available until then? It’d be good to know how much of a difference it makes.
