Hey everyone! With the announcement of Resident Evil 9, I’m really curious about the storyline. At the end of Resident Evil Village, Chris discovered that the BSAA was deploying bio-weapons and hinted at heading to Europe to investigate further, which seemed pretty important. But now, with RE9 being shown, it feels like they’re not addressing that at all. Are we possibly heading for a parallel story or something? I’d love to hear your thoughts and speculations!

Capcom hinted that the Winters family’s story ended with RE8 a while back, so I guess that does make sense. Still, you’d think they’d want to tie things together a bit more smoothly.
Right? I’m also curious just how dark RE9 is going to be. If Raccoon City is still a mess, that could really set the tone. But also, what if the power’s out everywhere? That adds another layer of horror!
Honestly, it feels like the most Resident Evil thing ever to just skip over a huge plot point like that, haha. They did something similar with RE7 where the sequel seemed to pull away from the previous game’s craziness, focusing on Ethan’s personal troubles instead of the overall story. It’s like the series often forgets these threads! Seems like anything could happen in RE9.
Yeah, that’s not really how this franchise usually operates. The games have always had gaps between their plots: RE2 didn’t follow directly from RE1, and it’s been a while since a game has picked up right where the last one left off. Sure, RE8 is a continuation, but with all the previous plot lines still dangling, who knows where they’ll take this next?
Maybe they’re saving it for Resident Evil 10? The idea of exploring Europe could make for a whole game! But if they don’t connect RE9 to the events of RE8 or even hint at them, it really does feel like they’re just throwing us random pieces without a plan, kind of like how the newer Star Wars movies dropped the ball.
Totally! It’s kind of wild how they set up such intricate stories and then drop them. The narrative feels a bit disjointed—like they have all these loose ends, but instead of tying them up, they just move on to something else.
