I’m experiencing low FPS in Sea of Thieves and I’m not sure why. I have a 7800 XT GPU paired with a 7600X CPU and 32GB of DDR5 RAM. While I usually get between 80 to 160 FPS, I feel that it’s actually low given my specs. On top of that, my 1% lows are around 60 FPS and my 0.1% lows drop to 40 FPS, which makes the gameplay feel laggy. I’ve updated my drivers and I’m playing on 1440p with the mythical settings. Any advice?

The developers mentioned that the game is primarily optimized for 60 and 120 FPS, so anything above that can lead to bugs and performance issues. I play at a stable 144 FPS with a 4070 TI, but I still face occasional frame drops near certain islands. Your best bet might be to cap your FPS at 120 and see if that helps stabilize things for you.
Low FPS is common with this game due to its poor optimization. I run a 3070 with a Ryzen 7 5700G, and even on rare settings, I struggle to hit 100 FPS at times. It’s frustrating, but you’re not the only one feeling it!
Honestly, 80-160 FPS isn’t too bad considering the game. But if you’re feeling lag, it might be the settings. I also have a 7800 XT, but I’m not on full mythical. I keep my texture settings high and turn down the lighting, which is pretty heavy for GPUs. I usually manage around 120 FPS and it’s capped there to avoid issues. The game does have some weird stuttering too, especially in certain areas, so you’re not alone!
Yeah, I just checked with an AI tool and it said those 1% lows are pretty normal for this game. Seems like those mythical settings really push the system hard!
