What's a Great ARPG for Casual Players Who Want to Experiment?

-

I’m on the hunt for an action RPG where I can kick back and just have fun without constantly referring to guides or stressing over crafting the perfect build. A little complexity in character progression is alright, but I really don’t want to feel like I’m at a disadvantage if I go off the beaten path. I’d love a game that lets me tinker with different skills and gear without being overly punished for not going all-out on optimization. If respeccing is easy and the game remains enjoyable even with a less-than-perfect build, that’s a big plus! What do you recommend?

You should definitely check out Grim Dawn! While it does require some optimization for tougher challenges and optional bosses, you can totally experiment and have fun getting through the main game without stressing too much. I usually rely on build guides, but in Grim Dawn, I didn’t stick to any and it didn’t impact my enjoyment at all.

Honestly, if you’re looking for something casual, Diablo 4 might fit the bill. The meta builds are so accessible that you can easily find your way without a guide. Plus, you can put aspects on any gear and reset your skills without it costing you a lot, making it very forgiving for casual players.

NEO: The World Ends With You is a solid choice! Switching out pins and skills is super easy, and I’ve found that most combos have been both fun and useful in their own way. It’s good for casual play and doesn’t demand heavy optimization.
