I’ve been thinking about what improvements could really get me excited about jumping onto the Switch 2 bandwagon. There are a lot of things I love about it, but a few easily fixable issues are holding me back. For starters, the battery life is pretty disappointing at just 2 hours. I believe switching to a newer 4nm/3nm chip would potentially double that to around 4-5 hours. Then there’s the LCD display with its thick bezel—an upgrade to an OLED, bezel-free display seems like a no-brainer. Also, the joycons feel too big for my family; I’d prefer a return to the better-sized joycons from the original Switch. Additionally, moving the C button to merge its function with the amiibo sensor would help with design symmetry and reduce accidental presses. Finally, I think a built-in camera is a missed opportunity, especially for multiplayer gameplay. Honestly, I’d gladly pay $599 for these upgrades!

Already asking for revisions just a week after launch? 😂 Let’s give it some time!
Honestly, I think the Switch 2 is great as it is! Sure, a better CPU and more RAM would be nice, but it already runs games well and has a magical dock/handheld concept. Plus, the battery life seems better than the Steam Deck!
I really want the dock to support Variable Refresh Rate (VRR). It feels like a missed opportunity, and I’m hesitant to upgrade if the dock might not get a revision to fix this issue. Nintendo made some changes to the Switch 2 site after people pointed this out, which makes me think they might be on the same page but didn’t plan for it.
I had issues with the first Switch’s handheld feel, so I switched to the Lite. But honestly, the magnets on the Switch 2 feel way better now! I think I’ll stick with my Lite for now, though.
I think the 2-hour battery life is all about brightness settings. When I play Mario Kart, I can squeeze out almost 5 hours. Maybe people are maxing out brightness? As for the joycons, I find the newer ones better than the original tiny ones, which were pretty uncomfortable for me. Just my two cents!
Yeah, I totally agree. I’m okay with 2 hours too if it means other features are solid.
You’re probably right about the brightness being a battery sucker. I always keep mine low and it helps. But I still think there’s room for improvement in joycon size.
