I’m planning to start a new run as a rogue, and I’m looking to respec Astarion to fit that theme. However, I’m not a fan of the other rogue subclasses available to him. I usually like to keep my companions true to their main class, such as Shadowheart as a cleric and Gale as a wizard, but I want to make an exception this time. I want Astarion to have a new subclass that is still believable for his character as a vampire. Any suggestions on what might suit him?

I’ve imagined Astarion as a Bard, where he channels his vampiric charm and abilities into music instead of hiding. It’s a cool twist on his character!
You might want to consider the Gloomstalker Ranger. It has a rogue-like feel and focuses on stealth and ambushing enemies, which suits Astarion’s vampire traits really well.
What about Warlock or Sorcerer? Astarion making pacts for power fits his story, and a Sorcerer’s vampiric bloodline could be an interesting angle to explore.
How about making him an Arcane Archer Fighter or a Swarmkeeper Ranger? He always seemed more like a ranged character to me, so that could work nicely.
If you want to stick to the rogue theme but add a twist, consider going Arcane Trickster or even a Shadow Monk. They allow for that nimbleness and trickery that really reflect his personality.
