I’ve just jumped back into Minecraft after a long hiatus and the game feels completely different! There are tons of new biomes like the mangrove swamp and beautiful pink cherry trees, plus many changes in the Nether. I’ve heard about these ‘Trial Chambers’—what are they? Also, how do I find Netherite these days? And what’s up with Nether Fortresses? It seems like mobs keep spawning in areas I’ve already cleared; is the enemy spawn rate different now? It honestly feels like I’m playing a completely new game, and I’m kinda lost!

If you’re looking to find Trial Chambers, I’d recommend checking with cartographer villagers to buy a map. To mine for Netherite, bed mining is the way to go, but you’ll need a Netherite Smithing Template which you can find in Nether Bastions. Also, keep in mind, Nether Fortresses are always going to spawn skeletons; you can destroy the Blaze Spawners to stop them from coming back. Unlike the Overworld, mobs in the Nether will spawn regardless of light levels!
For Netherite, I like to dig down to levels 17 or 20 and strip mine every other block—works pretty well! Trial Chambers pop up randomly in caves, but you can grab a map from a villager. They’re really fun to explore! When you collect the keys, you can pop an ominous potion to make the trials tougher, which means better loot like the heavy core for the mace.
Thanks! My Nether portals are really high up and close to a ghast spawn point—ghasts are everywhere! What’s the mace you mentioned?
Also, just a heads up—upgrading to Netherite requires 4 ancient debris per ingot, plus you’ll need gold! And don’t forget to grab those templates in bastions for duplication!
Good tip on the bed mining! I’ll definitely look up some videos on that. Getting my sheep farm set up for wool is a relief too!
