I’ve just finished setting up my full health commando build in the game, and now I hear they’re planning to nerf it. Does that mean I need to grind hundreds of levels again to rearrange my perks? Also, it feels like everyone is running heavy builds, so why single out the commando? It took me nearly a month to get my levels and perks how I wanted, and honestly, I’m worried this might kill the game for me. How do other players handle these changes when updates hit?

In my experience, the commando nerf likely won’t be that brutal. You should still be able to use it effectively. Plus, if it ends up getting weaker, semi-auto rifles might get buffs to balance things out, so switching to a rifleman build could be pretty straightforward since it mainly needs a few perk points. So no need to panic about losing your hard-earned build!
The thing is, commando is still better than single-shot weapons most of the time. The nerf will probably just bring other weapon styles up a bit. They’re likely targeting heavy weapons next, and non-automatic melee and bows might get a buff too. So if you’re worried only about your own build staying OP, just know the devs try to shake things up to keep things balanced and fun. Hang in there!
You’ll be fine regardless. I’ve clocked over 2500 hours and leveled well past 2000 playing unconventional builds—never stuck to the meta. Even if your commando gets toned down, your build will still be solid. Plus, these changes usually open up more diversity so players aren’t all running the same stuff. So don’t worry too much; you’re not going to be left behind.
I get why you’re frustrated, but it’s important to remember this is a live-service RPG. Builds evolve, patches come and go, and sometimes you need to switch things up. I’ve played for a while and have multiple fully functional builds without grind-heavy play — just focusing on events and quests. If constantly shifting builds is a deal breaker, maybe this genre isn’t for you, no judgment. But this is how the game environment keeps fresh and interesting.
Honestly, don’t stress too much just yet — the update is still months away and nothing is final. Bethesda has been known to tweak things at the last minute, even right before releasing patches. If you keep playing casually over the next few months, you’ll rack up levels naturally and have time to adjust your perk setup. It might be annoying to grind again, but you’ll have chances to adapt before the changes hit.
Thanks! I thought the update was coming sooner based on what I heard. If it’s a few months off, I can probably get 50 more levels or so. It still sucks having to change builds and level up again, but I guess that’s part of the game. Hoping they reconsider the commando nerf though.
