My son is 7 and absolutely obsessed with Minecraft. He spends hours in creative mode on his Switch and tablet, and he’s been a bit let down that I don’t seem as interested as he is. I really want to show him that I care about his passion, but I don’t have time to dive into the game myself or watch YouTube videos. He loves to talk about it and gets super excited when I ask questions. So, I’m looking for some great questions that will spark his enthusiasm. We’re also going to see the Minecraft movie soon, which is his third time but my first, so I’m hoping that’ll help me understand the game better. What should I ask him to engage in this world he loves?

Here are some fun questions to ask him: Why do creepers look like that? Do skeletons ever spawn on top of spiders? Why are villagers dressed differently, and what determines their jobs? What about pets – can you have any animals? Oh, and if you could build anything in the game without limits, what would it be? Also, what’s the scariest thing that’s happened to you in Minecraft?
Remember, Minecraft is essentially a digital Lego set, a platform for creativity. So, think of how it feels for him when you show genuine interest in his projects. A meaningful question could be, “Can you show me what you’ve built that you’re the most proud of?” That might really resonate with him!
Thank you! That’s a great suggestion.
Thank you so much!!!
