What's the code for the keypad in apartment 7

I’ve looked over the crime scene thoroughly and I don’t think there is anything left inside this room for me to discover. I’m locked into the apartment and I need to bypass the security. There’s a keypad with a 4 digit lock, but I don’t know what the password is. Using the hack it told me the final character was the number 4, but I don’t know how to get the remaining digits.

I had to look this one up myself. I never understood the clue but the password is the year written on the book in the closet. Not sure how that year is meant to click as being the password other than you having to go and try out every possible 4 digit password in the room. I think the year on the book was 1986 so give that a try if you don’t feel like digging out that book.
