I’m on the hunt for an RPG that has a lot of class and character customization, similar to Dragon Quest IX. I’m looking to play on either mobile devices, retro consoles (up to GameCube/PSP), or DS/3DS. I absolutely loved Dragon Quest IX for its character creation and the variety of classes, gear, and skill points. I’ve logged countless hours in it! Other games I’ve enjoyed include **Fantasy Life** (I’ve been eagerly waiting for the sequel), **Pokemon** (I love building my own teams), and **Etrian Odyssey** (though the dungeon crawling is a tad awkward for me). While I prefer games where I can customize my character, I’m open to trying those with set characters if they have solid class options. I’m okay with purchasing mobile games, but I’m not interested in anything that leans towards pay-to-win.

You might want to try *Final Fantasy V* and *Bravely Default*. They’re both classics, and while they don’t have deep visual customization, they make up for it with fun mechanics. You might enjoy them!
Have you checked out *Tales of Maj’Eyal*? It has a ton of character customization options. Also, *Siralim Ultimate* is worth a look if you haven’t tried it yet. They both lean more towards the PC side, but they pack a lot of complexity!
Thanks for the suggestions! I noticed *Tales of Maj’Eyal* is PC-only, so that’s out for me. I’ll definitely give *Siralim* another shot!
Consider *Ever Oasis*! It’s a unique blend of character-building and strategy. You recruit characters with their own kits to explore and gather resources. Also, *Radiant Historia* is an amazing time travel RPG with excellent combat and variety in character kits. And if you’re up for a tactical challenge, *Fire Emblem: Three Houses* offers an incredibly dynamic class system with choices that keep it interesting on multiple playthroughs!
I’ve already spent a lot of hours on *Three Houses* and plan to revisit it soon! I’m semi-familiar with *Radiant Historia*, but *Ever Oasis* sounds new and interesting—I’ll have to try it out!
I’ve played a bit of *Bravely Default*, so I’ll check out *FFV*. I know they lack visual customization, but they do sound fun!
