I’ve been out of the game for a while, having played as an Asura engineer. Now that I’m looking to jump back in, I’m totally lost and can’t remember much! I’m hoping to get some suggestions on what race and class combination I should try this time around. Any ideas?

Honestly, Asura Engineer is still a blast, especially if you go Scrapper! Seeing a tiny Asura wielding a massive weapon is hilarious. But if you want something different, I’d recommend Sylvari or Charr, both have awesome personal stories. Plus, that werewolf transformation for Norn is a game-changer. The big question is: what kind of playstyle are you looking for?
All races are pretty cool, and they offer different animations and voice acting. If you enjoyed being an Asura, you might want to try a different race just for a change of scenery. Also, think about what you enjoy about Engie—do you want something with easy builds or something more challenging?
I went with a Human Revenant, and I’ve never looked back. The gameplay just feels right for me, plus the lore is seriously intriguing!
I picked Human Guardian, and I’m really enjoying it! Guardians are considered the poster boys of the game, and you get a nice balance of defense and offense to play with.
Honestly, I think the best approach is to try a little bit of everything! I love playing Human anything since the transmogs are great. If you’re not sure about melee or ranged, just make a character for each type and see what feels right for you!
