I’m excited to watch a Pokémon movie with my nephew, who’s recently gotten into Pokémon! His parents said it’s fine since it’s a guilty pleasure of mine too. However, they don’t have a TV, and he mostly watches kids’ shows on a tablet. He’s a bit on the sensitive side and gets scared during tense moments—he even flinched at a Team Rocket battle when we played Pokémon on my Switch. I’m looking for a Pokémon movie that features battles but isn’t too scary for him. Any recommendations?

I highly recommend trying out ‘Pokémon Concierge.’ It’s a chill, stop-motion short series that’s available for free on their YouTube channel—perfect for kids!
You might want to check out some of the shorter Pokémon videos on YouTube. They aren’t full-length movies, but they’re cute and generally less intense, so you can screen them quickly to make sure they’re suitable for your nephew. Plus, they finish fairly quickly, so you can watch them together later!
I’d suggest ‘Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea’ and ‘Pokémon: Destiny Deoxys.’ They have some suspenseful moments, but they’re not too scary. Destiny Deoxys is fun, with Team Rocket being more silly than threatening! If you’re really worried about scares, check out the lighter shorts like ‘Pikachu’s Winter Vacation’—it’s just Pokémon having fun!
Starting with the older classics could be a good idea! ‘Pokémon: The First Movie’ is a great choice. I was around your nephew’s age when I saw it, and it didn’t scare me. Plus, it’s a classic that’s perfect for introducing him to the Pokémon world!
Yeah, but it might be a little boring for a kid looking for action!
