I’ve almost finished Bravely Default 2 and I’m considering taking a break before jumping into the next game. I’m definitely planning to get the Flying Fairy version eventually, but for now, I’m looking for some recommendations for JRPGs that are either similar or just great games overall. I mainly play on PC, so I’d appreciate suggestions that don’t include titles like Xenoblade. I’ve loved games like Final Fantasy X, Disgaea 3, and Tactics Ogre Reborn, so I’m also on the hunt for hidden gems in the JRPG genre!

You might like games like Metaphor Re;Fantazio, Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, and Ys VIII. I stumbled upon Romancing SaGa 2 by accident and was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it was!
If you’re into hidden gems, you might have to do a bit of emulation for some really cool JRPG experiences. However, if emulating isn’t your thing, I highly recommend Dragon Quest XI—it’s a fantastic JRPG available on Steam.
If you’re looking for classics, Final Fantasy V has an amazing job system and is a staple for fans who enjoyed Bravely Default. And don’t forget about Live A Live—it’s available on Steam and has a great story!
Crystal Project is worth checking out too! It’s unique and gives off some fun retro vibes. Plus, Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 keep coming up as popular choices.
You should definitely check out Octopath Traveler 2! I played it after Bravely Default 2 and found it to be even better. If you enjoyed FFX and Tactics, you’ll likely love the storytelling and design in this one.
