There’s something about a well-delivered villain line that just gets stuck in your memory. For me, it’s Sovereign from Mass Effect 1 with, “You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it.” What are some of your favorite villain quotes that you can’t forget?

For me, it’s “Nanomachines, son.” from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Armstrong’s whole speech is so over-the-top and memorable. It’s become a bit of a meme in its own right, but damn if it doesn’t leave an impression.
“The price of preparedness, paid now in gold, later, in blood.” This line from Darkest Dungeon is pretty haunting. It’s a really cool way of telling you that sometimes the cost is worth it to avoid bigger risks later.
“A man chooses, a slave obeys.” That bit from Bioshock stuck with me. It’s such a powerful line that really encapsulates some heavy themes about free will. I think it resonates because it’s making you question your own choices not just in the game but in life.
One of the most impactful lines for me is from Vaas in Far Cry 3: “Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is?” That monologue is legendary, and it hits so hard because it ties directly into the gameplay loop and the chaotic world around you.
One that stands out for me is from Darkest Dungeon. Every time I hear “Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer,” I get chills. It’s not just a statement; it’s a truth bomb dropped on the player. Makes me think about life too!
“You will die as each Arbiter has before you. The council will have their corpse.” This line from Halo gives me shivers every time I hear it. The intensity and coldness behind it are just unforgettable.
GLaDOS from Portal has some fantastic lines, but my favorite is, “How are you holding up? Because I’m a potato.” It’s both darkly comedic and unsettling. That character sure has a unique way of making you feel both amused and uncomfortable at the same time!
“Tell that to the farmer in Moscow!” Classic among the Bioshock fans.
