Hi everyone, I’m currently subscribed to PlayStation Plus Essential, which I renew annually. Recently, I upgraded to the Extra tier to access more games from the catalog without buying them individually. I only paid a small fee for this upgrade, and it’s supposed to last until my subscription renews next year, which is in 180 days.
My question is: If I decide to downgrade back to the Essential tier right now, will I lose access to the games I downloaded through Extra? Or will those games still be available until my 180-day period is up?
By the way, I upgraded mainly because the yearly cost of Extra is a bit too much for me right now.

Unfortunately, if you switch back to just the Essential tier, you’ll lose access to the games you got through the Extra tier. The access to those games is tied to the Extra subscription being active, so once that’s gone, the games go too. If you want to keep playing them, you’ll need to maintain the Extra subscription.
From what I understand, once your Extra subscription ends and you revert to Essential, you won’t be able to access the Extra games. So basically, you can continue playing them until your current Extra subscription runs out, but once you downgrade, they’re no longer part of your library. I know it sucks that they aren’t permanent, but that’s just the way the service works.
Yeah, what others have said is right. Even though you might think you’re just downgrading services, the availability of Extra games is all about your active subscription status. If you lose the Extra benefits, the games are gone too. You can redownload them if you resubscribe to Extra later, though! Would a temporary downgrade save you enough money to be worth it?
