I’m really frustrated with Apex Legends right now. I just spent nearly 40 minutes compiling shaders, only to barely get into the firing range. My PC can run DX12, but I can’t even load into ranked matches or any other game mode! This update has left me feeling locked out of the game. I understand that DX12 is where things are headed, but why was DX11 completely removed? It seems unreasonable to force everyone to upgrade when many players, including those like me with family and job responsibilities, can’t afford high-end hardware just to keep playing a game we love. Other games still support DX11 as a backup, so why couldn’t Apex? If DX12 has known performance problems for some, it would be better to give players a choice. This feels like Respawn is just pushing players towards unnecessary upgrades for profit. I’m disappointed because Apex was always about the community and being an escape, not about hardware limitations.

I hear you! The elimination of DX11 feels pretty harsh. I think they want everyone on the same page with DX12 to minimize compatibility issues, but it’s definitely tough on players with older hardware. It’s kind of frustrating when gaming should be accessed by everyone, not just those who can afford constant upgrades. You’re not alone in feeling pushed out for using older tech—especially when a lot of games still keep older support!
Totally! And with the current state of Respawn’s player base declining, it’s puzzling why they’d alienate players when they should be focusing on keeping everyone engaged.
