My 1070 Ti just died after seven years of service, and I’m in the market for a new GPU. I primarily game at 1440p on low to medium settings, focusing on older titles (like CS2, Battlefield 1, PUBG, GTAV, RDR2) and also use Lightroom and Photoshop for editing. I haven’t followed GPU releases in a while, so I’m unsure what to choose. I’m also planning to upgrade my entire system within the next two years. Just to add some specs: I have an i7 8700k, an ASUS TUF Z370-PLUS motherboard, 32GB of RAM, and a 550W Corsair PSU in a CORSAIR CRYSTAL SERIES 460X RGB case. Any recommendations?

Could you share what size and specs your case has? That would help narrow things down. For now, a solid choice would be the RTX 3060 or even a used 2070. Both should be compatible and fit nicely, giving you a FPS boost without breaking the bank.
Since you’re coming from a 1070 Ti, a used RTX 3060 would be a great option for you. It should fit well in your case and your 550W PSU should handle it without issues. Plus, it’ll give you a solid performance boost for your gaming needs!
You might want to be cautious if you’re considering newer GPUs. With your setup, especially the i7 8700k, going for the 4000 series might result in CPU bottlenecking. I’d recommend looking at the RTX 2000 or 3000 series, like the RTX 2080 Super, which has worked well with my system before I upgraded. Keep your budget and power supply in mind!
Got it, my case is a CORSAIR CRYSTAL SERIES 460X RGB ATX, so it has room for larger cards!
