Hey everyone! I’m running OpenSUSE Tumbleweed and wanted to get your recommendations for a gaming controller. Here are my system specs:
– **OS:** openSUSE Tumbleweed 20250531
– **KDE Plasma:** 6.3.5
– **Kernel:** 6.14.6-2-default (64-bit)
– **Processor:** AMD Ryzen 5 8600G with Radeon 760M Graphics
– **Graphics:** AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT
– **RAM:** 31.0 GiB
My old generic controller broke (the cable is damaged and it only works intermittently), so I’m looking for a reliable replacement. Any suggestions?

I’ve been using Xbox One controllers with Linux for years, and they’ve always worked flawlessly for me, whether it’s on Mint, Nobara, or Tumbleweed. Lately, I connect mine via Bluetooth and it’s been rock solid, but you can also use it via a wired USB connection without any issues.
I personally use the 8bitdo Pro 2. It’s super versatile! Just make sure to grab a controller that has an xinput mode, and you’ll be good to go.
I really like the DualSense. It’s one of the best controllers I’ve tried. But honestly, you can go with just about any controller that feels good to you!
I’ve heard a lot about both the DualSense and DualShock being well-supported, but it seems like Xbox controllers are also very popular. I’m a bit torn!
