I’m usually not one to pay much attention to storylines in video games—saving a princess is about as deep as I need it to get. However, I’ve come across a few games that actually caught my interest enough that I didn’t skip the dialogue. I’m curious what games have had a similar effect on others!

Mass Effect really gripped me from the get-go! The sequels totally met my expectations, except for Andromeda, which felt a bit lackluster. But the original trilogy? Some of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had!
God Of War (2018) had me totally involved. I usually skip, but never with this game. The character arcs and dynamics are just amazing!
The Outer Worlds captured my attention as well! It combines exploration with solid storytelling, making me engage more than I typically would.
I’d say Ori and the Will of the Wisps also had that magic. It had me captivated till the end!
Death Stranding was quite the experience for me. I thought the dialogue was both cheesy and intriguing, really highlighting the theme of communication breakdown in the game. What a ride! But fair warning, it does have its long cutscenes.
Totally agree! Those cutscenes did drag on, but the atmosphere and storytelling were beautiful.
The game definitely makes you think about isolation, and those scientific explanations towards the end can be a bit much.
I’m usually a gameplay junkie and skip dialogues, but I found myself enthralled by Baldur’s Gate 3. The character interactions and depth got me hooked! It’s remarkable for RPG lovers.
You’ve got to check out Disco Elysium! I usually can’t stand dialogue-heavy games, but the writing in this one is top-notch, totally worth the read!
Red Dead Redemption is one I can play over and over without skipping scenes. The narrative is just phenomenal, really pulls you in!
I never cared much for storylines until I tried Final Fantasy 16. It blew me away with its political intrigue and character depth. Completed it twice and soaked in all the lore! Finally a game that treats players like they’re smart.
Totally! I had no clue what it was until my cousin handed it to me during college. After diving in, I couldn’t believe how amazing it was!
