I’ve been looking into the recent updates and noticed the devs have made some adjustments to the ranger’s traits, particularly boosting certain ‘pet families’. I’m really curious about where jacaranda fits into all of this, especially alongside other unique pets like the stone gazelle and smokescale. Are these pets going to be left out of the new changes or grouped in a certain way?

Typically, these miscellaneous pets like jacaranda and smokescale hold their own quite well, so they probably don’t need the changes being rolled out. It looks like the intention is to revitalize the original pet families a bit more!
Each pet has its own family, and there is no official ‘misc’ pet classification. Jacaranda is a standalone family of one. The same goes for smokescale, rock gazelle, and a few others. Currently, the buffs being discussed seem to apply specifically to their families, which means those standalone ones like jacaranda might miss out. Pets like rot wallow and Warclaw, which have unique skills, could actually benefit from these changes, especially since they’re categorized under other families.
Yeah, there’s no explicit ‘miscellaneous’ tag in the game. They just end up being called that based on their uniqueness.
So, I think smokescale is classified as a saurian, but jacaranda might get grouped with other plant-type pets like iboga. They could form their own unique family of plant companions!
I faintly remember getting a Saurian Bone from taking down a smokescale in one of the HoT story missions!
Jacarandas don’t seem to care much about how they’re classified. They’re just doing their thing, you know? It’s all about that plant brain vibe!
Plant brain gonna plant brain.
Understandable! Have a nice day.
