Hey everyone! I’m on the hunt for a dungeon crawler game that fits a specific pattern: enter a dungeon with friends, farm items if I want, battle monsters and bosses, then return to one town for restocking and preparation for the next dungeon. I prefer a game that keeps it simple with just one town where I can do everything—I don’t want an open world where I have to run around to access new dungeons. My ideal game would be something like the Monster Hunter series, where you always go back to your town between quests. Here are my preferences:
– I want a third-person perspective (not first-person).
– I’d like to see classes or weapon-based classes similar to Monster Hunter.
– I want level and equipment progression.
– It should feature online co-op.
What I’m hoping to avoid:
– First-person views
– Bullet hell mechanics
– Side-scrolling gameplay
– Turn-based combat
– Mandatory story progression
– Permadeath (optional if the game isn’t too hard)
I’ve enjoyed games like Monster Hunter, Children of Morta, .hack//G.U., Torchlight II, and the upcoming Fellowship. Can anyone help me find something that fits this description?

You might want to check out “Din’s Curse.” It’s an indie game with co-op where you don’t have to travel between dungeons and towns. You just finish or fail one and then you get teleported to the next dungeon-town. It features a third-person perspective, has a lot of classes, and offers plenty of random loot. It’s an older game but unique in style!
It sounds like you’re looking for something specific! Have you thought about what you’re willing to compromise on? There are several great games out there that might fit *almost* all your criteria but may not check every box.
Could you elaborate on which games you’re thinking of? I’m really curious!
You could consider “Darkest Dungeon” and “Darkest Dungeon II” for their intense gameplay—though they are single player. If you want strictly a third-person perspective, I’d recommend giving “Deep Rock Galactic” a shot but you might need to compromise on the style since it’s first-person.
Thanks for the suggestion! But I’m really set on third-person.
This sounds promising! Just a couple of questions: Is the world instanced, so when I create one with friends it’s a separate experience? And what’s the player base like, is finding a party easy?
