I’m playing a Balance Druid with an item level of 635, and during a level 7 delve my damage meter shows an average of about 980k DPS. I can hit 1.5 million fairly often, and sometimes a single damage cycle goes over 2 million. I’m wondering if I should be doing better and what kind of DPS numbers other Balance Druids at this ilvl typically achieve.

At item level 635 which is pretty much season 1 gear for some expansions, 980k average DPS in delves sounds reasonable. You’ll see moments with spikes over 1.5 million or even 2 million in burst phases, but sustained is usually a bit lower. Unless you have very optimized rotation and gear, jumping way above those numbers might be tough, especially in content that isn’t just straightforward single-target fights.
Honestly, the DPS numbers can really depend on whether you’re doing single target or AoE content. Single target for Balance Druids isn’t their strongest point, but their AoE damage shines more. Since you mentioned a level 7 delve, that’s probably adding some variability too. If you want to see benchmarks, sites that run simulations based on your gear can help you see what numbers you should aim for.
You should try running your setup through a sim tool — that’s generally the best way to know what DPS you should be aiming for with your exact gear and talents. Just using raw parses in delves or random fights can be misleading because of movement and fight mechanics. Also, the fact that you hit 1.5M and sometimes 2M means your burst is solid, but ironing out consistent rotation and uptime might push your average higher.
Yeah, I’m mostly curious what others are hitting so I have some kind of goal. I’m not a huge fan of dungeons or raids because I usually get kicked if my numbers aren’t solid.
