What do I need to do to battle Giovanni in Pokémon GO?

Hey everyone! I’m a returning player who hasn’t played since around 2019, and I’m getting back into the swing of things. I’ve successfully defeated Team GO Rocket leaders Arlo, Sierra, and Cliff, but I’m confused about battling Giovanni. I’ve heard that there’s a timed research event for Giovanni that I need to participate in, but I can’t find it. Can anyone clarify what I need to do to fight him?

Unfortunately, without the special research, you won’t be able to find Giovanni since it’s the research that gives you the super radar needed to locate him. Just defeating the other leaders isn’t enough to access Giovanni directly.

You’ll need to wait for the event to come back around. Giovanni appears during the Team Rocket takeover events, which happen once a season. So keep an eye out for announcements!
