I just wrapped up Final Fantasy 16, and honestly, my opinion flipped from kinda meh to outright dislike. What was up with that ending? It felt like it just got worse as it progressed. The last boss fights were snoozers, despite the game peaking around the Bahamut fight. I’d rate it a solid 5/10—average RPG with nice visuals, but it felt like it was trying to be Game of Thrones without really fleshing out the plot or characters. Just curious about others’ perspectives after finishing it!

Honestly, I’m surprised you made it to the end! A friend really hyped it up for me too. I thought the writing was pretty mediocre, and don’t even get me started on the side quests—so uninspired! It felt like a few good ideas were buried in a mess of average gameplay.
If you’re looking for something more strategic, give Expedition 33 a shot! It’s like an homage to old school Final Fantasy, plus the story is way more engaging than FF16, in my opinion!
You’re going to get downvoted for saying that, but I totally agree. The hype died after a dozen hours in. The demo had me excited, and then it just fell apart. It felt like a mashup of Game of Thrones and Attack on Titan, but it lost its own flair in the process. Plus, Ultima is honestly one of the weakest villains I’ve encountered in the series!
Exactly! Dion’s character seemed interesting, but then he was just left hanging after that fight. Ultima didn’t really go anywhere interesting either.
I didn’t hate the story like some folks seem to! I thought Ultima was an interesting villain, but I agree that the world felt dead and the shops were pretty useless. I’d have loved more life and activity in the towns.
Yes! Ultima had potential but I was left wanting more. He could have had a killer backstory, but it seemed rushed.
I totally get that! The side quests could have been way better, and I was just trying to rush through them to see if the main story picked up.
