I’m curious about what stood out to everyone in the latest installment, Shadows. For me, I had some disappointments and some impressive moments. The hideout felt pretty lackluster; it would have been great if the Forge was out in the open world because I rarely found myself wanting to go back there. Plus, the allies didn’t really hang out in the customizable areas, which made that aspect feel underwhelming. I also found the indoor stealth mechanics a bit pointless, as enemies often just stood still. It was frustratingly slow to pick up dead bodies too! As for the story, after Act 1 it felt so scattered and I think the Templars could have been way more central instead of the forgettable groups we ended up with. I really wanted to dive deeper into that dynamic. But on a positive note, the combat system is super fun and the stealth gameplay with Naoe is fantastic! I also loved the graphics, the abundance of assassination targets, and the seasonal changes in the game. What did you all think?

You guys are spot on! I’m blown away by the game’s visuals, but the narrative just falls flat. The flow of the story becomes confusing after Act 1, and I think they could have really benefited from a more linear approach to storytelling.
You nailed it with the lack of interactivity in the hideout; it feels like there should be so much more you can do there. I loved customizing my space, but it doesn’t feel meaningful without activities to match. More side quests and character interactions would have really helped.
Exactly! I wish we could do things like fish or have more activities in the open-world to immerse ourselves better.
Yeah, the way they treated the Assassins and Templars felt really half-baked. Naoe just seemed to mimic her mother’s journey without fully embracing the Creed. Honestly, the story could’ve worked with the Assassins cut out entirely. There’s just no depth in the character arcs, which is disappointing for an AC game.
Honestly, Naoe’s mother seemed like she had a much cooler story for an AC game. They could’ve leaned more into that instead.
Right? You could strip like 90% of the content from this game and the storyline would still make sense.
I felt the same, the main missions and side content lacked variety. I miss the large, engaging side quests we had in previous games like Odyssey. The open world looks pretty, but I found myself just running around with not much to do.
I totally agree about the hideout! Not having training dummies was a missed opportunity. The combat is fun and makes use of a pretty decent combo system, which is refreshing. A dojo would have been perfect for practicing without jumping back into the main quests.
Right? Also, I saw more potential in the seasonal changes than what came in the end. They made the scenery gorgeous but didn’t utilize it enough in gameplay.
