I’m stuck in a difficult spot because I really don’t want to upgrade to Windows 11, especially since it seems like something I won’t use much. However, I’m worried about missing out on important security features. The catch is, I can’t afford a new computer to run Windows 11 through the updater. Is there any way for me to force the installation? My main issue is that my CPU is quite old (around 2013 AMD), but I feel like the system could handle it just fine if it weren’t for that limitation.

Honestly, what’s the big deal about the security features? Most people still use older Windows versions without issues. Security features barely impact the average user. Just look at ATMs running on XP and Windows 7! So you might not need to worry as much as you think.
I recommend giving Linux Mint a shot. It’s fantastic for revamping older hardware, and it really breathes new life into it. I successfully used it on old rigs back around 2019, and it worked wonders!
If you have an AMD graphics card, consider trying out some Linux distros like Pop OS, Bazzite, or even Fedora. They work well with older hardware!
You could try editing the installer using a tool like Rufus to bypass the requirements for Windows 11. Another option is to set up a dual boot with Linux. It can help you see if you really need Windows for your daily tasks. By the time the deadline hits, you might decide to stick with Linux instead!
Just a heads up, Pop! OS is quite dated, and while Fedora KDE is awesome, it might be tricky for newcomers due to its open-source restrictions. I found Linux Mint to be the best starting point with its user-friendly interface and functionality, especially for those transitioning from Windows.
