I bought the 1-TB Steam Deck OLED last year and have accumulated a decent amount of Steam Points. I’m not really interested in cosmetic stuff like backgrounds or stickers. Is there anything functional I can get with these points? Can I spend them toward buying actual games or something useful? By the way, I love my Deck and am hoping to have some cash saved up when the Deckard or Steam Deck 2 drops because I’m really sold on this brand, kind of like how I felt about my PS1 back in the day.

From what I know, Steam Points are mostly just for sprucing up your profile — like buying backgrounds, stickers, and other flashy stuff. Unfortunately, they can’t be used to buy games or anything that affects gameplay or functionality. It’s mainly for cosmetic personalization.
Honestly, it seems like all the Steam Points go towards cosmetic goodies only. I’ve heard about things like startup screen themes or chat stickers, but nothing that’s actually functional or lets you score discounts on games. Kind of a bummer if you want to use points for actual purchases.

Yeah, that’s what I figured. Just wish Valve would let us use them on games or DLC or something more tangible.
