I’ve seen a lot of chatter lately about Fallout 76 being too monetized, and honestly, I feel like some of that criticism is misplaced. The game is constantly evolving, which requires funding. Sure, Bethesda makes money from other titles, but the revenue from the Atom Shop and similar sources is crucial for keeping the game going. If everything was free, it would disrupt the balance, and I think it’s fair for players with a bit of cash to enjoy some extra perks. Each Fallout game has a different feel and mechanics than the previous ones, and I really just want to encourage more positive vibes within our community. The game has a great story and lore, and I’d love to see people focus on the good aspects instead of being overly critical. What do you all think?

Honestly, I don’t mind spending under $20 a month for Fallout 1st. You can absolutely play for free and enjoy it just fine. Most of the monetization is cosmetic or quality of life improvements, so I see it as optional.
It’s good to see so many different viewpoints! I do think that while some things could be more reasonably priced, it’s pretty great that the game offers free content regularly. The notion of monetization isn’t ideal, but all games need funding to keep their servers running and to develop new stuff.
You know, I think Fallout 76 gets a bad rap for being overly monetized. Sure, it’s not perfect, but it’s not the worst out there. Compared to other titles, it’s not drowning in microtransactions. People expect too much for free these days.
I totally get that it’s a paid game with free expansions, but it feels like they’re monetizing like a free-to-play game, right? Almost $20 a month for Fallout 1st in Canada? That’s steep! I love the game but wish they would offer a lower tier without all the perks.
I agree! The monthly fee adds up, especially since the content release has been kinda sparse. They could definitely do better with more regular updates.
I think we shouldn’t forget that new content is really the meat of any game, and with 76, that’s mostly free. I enjoy the game and feel that supporting it financially is fair enough, considering how much fun I’ve had.
Exactly! I played for free for a bit and had my fun, but there are definitely perks that make the small investment worthwhile.
I get what you’re saying, but some of the prices in the Atom Shop are just outrageous. Like, why would a simple cosmetic cost so much? It’s getting a bit ridiculous.
