Hey everyone! I’m curious to know which tabletop RPGs you’ve played that really feel like games or board games. What aspects made them feel that way?

I’ve heard a lot about D&D 4th Edition being super game-focused. Although I never got to play it, it seems to be having a bit of a revival, especially for folks who lean towards a gamist style. Its emphasis on mechanics and wargame influences really sets it apart from previous editions, making it feel more like a game than a simulation. Also, I read it was designed with cards to keep track of abilities – pretty interesting!

Totally agree! It’s fascinating how it tries to simplify things for easier gameplay. Plus, the mechanics were inspired by trading card games, which is why it feels more game-like.
