I’ve recently dove into the DLCs for The Witcher 3 after hearing a lot of recommendations, and wow, I was blown away by Blood and Wine! The music, the beautiful fairy tale setting of Toussaint, the storyline with the duchess and the vampire Dettlaff (and let’s not forget Regis!), the new Gwent deck… everything felt so well done. Honestly, it feels like a true 11/10 expansion. Now I’m curious if there are other DLCs out there that could be just as good or even better than the original game. I’ve played a couple of other great ones like The Old Hunters for Bloodborne and Shadow of the Erdtree for Elden Ring, but I’m eager to discover more! What’s your experience with DLCs that left a lasting impression?

Far Harbor from Fallout 4 is another amazing DLC. It offers a completely new map and some really engaging storylines that outshine parts of the main game. The atmosphere is hauntingly beautiful, and the quests present unexpected moral dilemmas, which I loved!
If you’re into Cyberpunk 2077, I thought Phantom Liberty was an incredible experience. It felt way more polished and engaging than the base game. It brought serious choices to the table, plus a new ending that felt satisfying and complete.
Hearts of Stone from The Witcher 3 might be my top pick for a story-focused DLC. It has some of the best characters and side quests I’ve ever encountered, and the narrative really draws you in. It’s definitely worth checking out if you loved Blood and Wine.
Baldur’s Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal is an unforgettable expansion. Although we used to call them expansion packs, that one really added to the original experience! It had epic encounters and tied up a lot of loose ends from the main story. Just make sure to manage your expectations, as it can be a mixed bag for some.
You should definitely check out the Dishonored DLCs, specifically Knife of Dunwall and Brigmore Witches! They practically feel like an entire extra game with Daud as a playable character. His perspective adds so much depth to the story! Plus, the gameplay mechanics in those DLCs are stellar.
